Come join our staff of highly trained professionals on an adventure into the underwater realms.
We have several freshwater spring dive sites to choose from. Year round water temperatures at these locations stay at 72 ° F/22 ° C.
Rainbow River is a shallow drift dive or snorkel only a half hour away from Crystal River. Blue Grotto and Devil's Den are safe cavernous springs about 50 minutes from our shop. These two dive sites are close to each other making a dive at both a popular choice. Ginnie Springs and Paradise Springs are a little farther away - about 1 hour - but are stunning example of Florida's beautiful springs.
Dives can be made at these sites in most weather conditions. Training platforms at these locations make them ideal for the novice as well as the experienced diver.
Blue Grotto is a clear spring that bubbles to the open air, and is a 50 minutes drive from our dive center. Numerous fish can be seen, alongside a soft shelled turtle called Virgil. The underwater cavern has a guide rope which terminates over 100 ft. (30m) down. There is also an underwater diving bell in which divers can surface and chat on surface supplied air.
The cavern entry has a training platform that is ideal for SCUBA training and refresher dives.
Devil's Den is a subterranean spring approximately 50 minutes drive from our dive center. On colder days the warm water vapors rising from the opening suggested a chimney for Hell to early settlers - hence its name today. This spectacular dive is sure to impress even the most seasoned diver, yet is easy for the novice wanting to gain experience or practice their skills under the guidance of our dive master staff.
This is a favorite of our staff for certification, refresher and tune up dives.
The Rainbow River is located in Dunnellon, about 30 minutes from our dive center. The Rainbow River is formed by a first magnitude spring - Rainbow Springs. In addition to this are many smaller springs discharging from numerous caves, rock crevices, and sand boils along the entire length of the river. This drift dive is a great way to explore different types of underwater features and a plethora of wildlife including fish, turtles, birds and more.
For those without their dive certification, this is also a great destination for snorkeling - experienced guide included.
Ginnie Springs is a beautiful fresh water spring system located just over an hour north of Crystal River. Here you can scuba dive in the crystal clear springs that are connected to the Santa Fe River. The world famous Ginnie Cavern is deemed sufficiently safe to allow for exploration by certified divers who lack formal cavern or cave training. Afterwards head over to the entrances of the Devil's Eye/Ear cave systems and feel the rush of fire-hydrant-like water flowing over you. A short drift dive down the tannic waters of the Santa Fe is even possible.
We suggest doing two dives here to see both major spring systems.
Paradise Springs gives the best of both worlds. It is a quiet, secluded spring that has both, picturesque views at the ground level and amazing depth and clarity that carries beauty of its own. The spring sits on beautiful private property, located an hour from our shop, that opens below the surface into an amazing 140 ft cavern. Join our guide for a dive to the deep. For non guided dives it is recommended that divers have open water certification with cavern experience.
We suggest doing two dives here to get a full experience of the site.
